5 Home Birth Favorites
Preparing for your dream home birth?
I remember feeling so nervous about making sure I had everything ready for when I started going into labor. There are so many different ways to make your birthing space feel comfortable for you. These are a few of the things I needed (or really enjoyed) during my home birth!
# 1: Birthing Pool
Depending if you have a midwife, you may or may not need (or want) to purchase a birthing pool. I know for some people, you may want something more comfortable than a bath tub to labor or give birth in, so here’s a reasonable option that you can find on Amazon. Plus, she’s cute too!!

#2: Light Projector
Having a galaxy light projector was one of my favorite small things that make my birth much more relaxing. This is one way to add some color and mood to your space, but not have bright overhead lights on. It’s super reasonable too!

#3: 100% Cotton Towels
A necessity. That is unless you’re okay with possibly ruining your household towels. I had a stash of fresh, clean towels on hand for labor and birth. If you’re like me and might be getting in/out of the tub and shower, and just having a birth at home in general, you should always have a pile of extra towels. I prefer to use 100% cotton ones!

#4: Plastic Drop Cloths
Plastic tarp drop cloths are for the not so pretty parts of birth lol! I put these over all of the carpet areas in my house in case any bodily liquids got on the floor. These were also layered on my bed. First one was over my mattress. Then a clean set of sheets, followed by another drop cloth. Then a new clean set of sheets on top of those, followed by another drop cloth with a washable blanket on top of that for laboring. They come in a pack on Amazon!

#5: Chux Pads
Another one of those not so fun items, but a bunch of chux pads are a necessity! Makes picking up messed quick and easy, giving you a fresh clean surface in little time. I suggest having a few of these disposable pads in every room incase of a mess.
